Hello I am Ruby and this is my AS media studies blog. My
first task is to create my own college magazine and listed below are some of my
initial ideas. I am going to make a girly social magazine aimed mainly at year
twelve’s experiencing the jump between GCSE’s and A levels. To cater for the
audience, the articles available will be focused around creating a balance
between social and work life while at school.
The colours used will be bright, colourful and feminine as
the magazine is targeting quite girly girls. The font will be casual; so it’s
not too intimidating; however will not be too childish as my target audience
are not little kids. I would like my font to be a good balance of these two.
Another way which I am planning to appeal to the target audience is through the
name of the magazine. This is popular. I think that it suits the magazine
because it revolves around the theme of being social whilst also fitting with
the criteria as it sounds like a college magazine. It sounds like a college
magazine as it revolves around the stereotypical college dream of being popular
and having friends. I want it to sound like a college magazine as that is what
it is and that needs to be evident from a first glimpse so that it will not be
confused with another type of magazine.
For the contents page I am planning to keep the same colours
and fonts continuing onto the contents page because this will let everyone know
that it is the same magazine. It also makes the transition between the pages
smoother and easier to process. For the contents page I would like to include
some pictures of students which will fit in with the articles listed on the
contents page. I would like to do this as I believe it should all be relevant
and not look out of place and as if it has been stuck together.
